When we look at the current state that our world is in we are able to see the various crises before us. We are faced with ecological issues that threaten the human wild life and the wild life of flora and fauna. The ecological devastation can be said to be carried out by human disregard of the natural world and the devaluing of natural resources. Simultaneously, we are also dealing with oppressive social disorders that leave many people in opposition. Among these issues you have classism, sexism, racism and heterosexism, among many others. Some of these issues lead to violence and the perpetuation of war. The political front tends to be apathetic to the needs of social reformation, thus leaving us to live through tense social strains. The aforementioned issues, environmental and social, have their roots within the psychological makeup of human beings. This gives us a view into the scope of psychological issues and the personal responsibility of every individual to be self-monitoring in their relationship to all of life. Furthermore, a host of mental health ailments are born out of the underdeveloped relationship with the rest of life. For many theorists, what we are truly dealing with in our present state of unawareness is spiritual issues. Our Totality is an attempt to present a more holistic view of the issues that we face and how we can collectively create a healthier state of being for all of life. For this to happen, new leaders with a comprehensive vision of cooperation will have to come together to mobilize individuals into understanding and, ultimately, action (internal and external). This will take a cross-disciplinary approach and the merging of minds and hearts of people from various concentrations. It is our hope that you not only learn as you read the contributions of various authors, but that you are inspired to act on behalf of all living things.
